Dramatic Glam Style Explained

Dramatic Glam Style Explained

Did you like to play princess dress up as a little kid, fawning over the little bedazzled shoes and tiaras? If so, you may have grown up to be a glam lady.

Glam is a universal word used to describe glamorous, over-the-top, and primped fashion aesthetics. It’s the ethos of being dressed up, even in the most casual setting.

Dramatic Glam ladies have high standards within most areas of their life, and this extends to their wardrobe. A mirror opposite to Minimalist Style, glam utilized gemstones, glitter, frills and more to add flair to mundane articles of clothing, such as a t-shirt or a pair of sandals. If it’s not fabulous, then it’s not Dramatic Glam style.

Staples in a glam closet are designer purses & sunglasses, fitted dresses, faux fur jackets, peplum blouses, sheer mesh dresses and heels–lots of heels. Glam ladies love to flaunt what they got. And who knows–maybe you’ll need to pose for an IG photo op; and glam ladies never get caught off guard.

But glam doesn’t simply happen. Most of the time, glam ladies have worked with a professional to gain insight into what best fits their body. Using this knowledge, they are skilled shoppers, always on the hunt for that next luxury item that fits into their style profile.

The sophistication in a glam look done right comes not only from knowledge of designer brands, but also knowledge of one’s own body and coloration.

While you can most likely cultivate a glam look by using what’s already in your closet with the help of a professional, you may also want to consider checking out some shops–like Revolve, ASOS, Net -A- Porter and Misguided–when searching for your next glam statement piece.

But it’s not just clothes that make a glam gal glam. Glam makeup is bright and colorful, using statement colors to ensure that everything about them pops. Think: bright pink lipstick and blush, or a blue smokey eye.

While someone with Dramatic Glam style may like to wear all kinds of statement hats (emphasis on dramatic!), don’t let that fool you–these girls put a lot of time, energy and focus into their glam hair. Highlights and balayage may be a way to achieve expensive-looking hair, while straightening or curling (depending on your hair texture) may also give you added oomph.

Within the glam family, there is edgy glam, preppy glam, casual glam, glam rock, glam punk and more–so put your own spin on glamorous.
